BREAKING: Armed Lyons man shot, killed by sheriff's deputy

LYONS - Early Saturday morning, a 22-year-old Lyons man was shot and killed by a Walworth County sheriff's deputy in front of his Country Estates residence after lunging at deputies with a knife, according to a story by Fox 6 News Milwaukee.

John Brown later died at Aurora Lakeland Medical Center in Elkhorn.

Deputies said they received a 911 call shortly after midnight Saturday from Brown’s mother, who asked for help because her son was threatening suicide. According to the story, when deputies arrived at the Meadow Lane home, they said Brown refused orders.

“The subject was armed with a knife and he confronted and was aggressive toward the officers," Walworth County Sheriff David Graves said. "He lunged toward the officers with a knife. He was ordered to drop the knife by the deputies. He failed to do so,” Walworth County Sheriff David Graves said.

According to the story, a deputy fired his service weapon and struck Brown.

The Walworth County Sheriff’s Office has placed the deputy on administrative duty while they turn the investigation over to the Wisconsin Department of Justice, Division of Criminal Investigation.
