Lyons ó Rustic Falls Nature Camp will host a second annual Rustic Fair from 1 to 5 p.m. June 17 at the camp, 5537 Cranberry Road, town of Lyons, (about 5 miles east of Lake Geneva.).

The Sunday afternoon fun fair will feature:

n Music by Josh and the Empty Pockets

n Barbecue, cotton candy, popcorn and a homemade bakery bake shop

n Carnival games, including a dunk tank, a high striker and a moonbounce

n A petting zoo

n A raffle featuring Cubs tickets, homemade items and a wine wagon

Tickets are $10 for an individual and $25 for a family. Admission ticket includes entry into a door prize drawing to win a night at Rustic Falls. Proceeds from the Rustic Fair at Rustic Falls will help make outdoor experiences possible for at-risk-youth, cancer survivors and physically and mentally challenged children and adults.

The camp was created by Eric Lentz and his wife Deanna Hallagan, of Skokie, Ill. Despite enduring treatments for colon cancer, Lentz led the way in restoring a 160-year-old stone farmhouse on the property, turning it into a weekend hostel for up to 12 people.

While still undergoing outpatient treatments, he would drive up to Cranberry Road and jump into the near back-breaking work of moving railroad ties, hefting small boulders, cutting trees and clearing brush. Friends, family and volunteers helped in the three-year project. Some donations helped with the project, but Lentz and Hallagan financed much of the project on their own.

The camp is now supported through the nonprofit Frank Lentz Foundation, named after Ericís late father who was a child psychologist in the Naperville School District.
