Man faces seventh OWI

A 50-year-old Walworth man faces a felony charge of seventh-offense drunken driving after his Aug. 25 arrest in the village of Fontana.
If convicted, Michael B. Thomas, W6066 Water Tower Place, faces a maximum penalty of 10 years imprisonment and $25,000 in fines.
He also faces a minimum sentence of three years imprisonment.
According to the criminal complaint:
A Fontana police officer stopped Thomas’ vehicle at 1:32 a.m. on Valley View Drive at South Main Street for operating left of the center lane.
The officer could smell intoxicants on Thomas’ breath, and observed that he had glassy and bloodshot eyes.
Thomas has six previous convictions for drunken driving for violations on May 17, 1992; Aug. 21, 1992; Dec. 24, 1993; May 31, 1996; Aug. 4, 2001 and Nov. 16, 2001.
