December 13, 2012
A 31-year-old Madison man faces a lengthy prison sentence after he had sex with a 14-year-old Walworth County girl who he met online.
Andrew J. Hying, 754 Engelhart Drive, pleaded guilty Dec. 12 to a felony charge of second-degree sexual assault of a child.
When he is sentenced he faces up to 25 years imprisonment and 15 years of extended supervision. He also faces up to $100,000 in fines.
A presentence investigation was ordered in the case. A PSI is a report generated by the Department of Corrections that examines the crime, the impact on the victim and the defendant’s history. The presentence investigation reporter also recommends a possible punishment to the judge.
As part of the plea agreement, Deputy District Attorney Joshua Grube cannot make a specific recommendation on the length of a possible prison sentence.
According to the criminal complaint:
On July 13, police spoke to the 14-year-old victim. The victim told police she had sex with a man she had met on the Internet.
She knew the man by a fake name, and that man was later identified as Hying.
