CHICAGO (CHICAGO TRIBUNE) - Internal church records released Tuesday show that Chicago Jesuits consciously concealed the crimes of convicted sex offender Donald McGuire for more than 40 years as the prominent Roman Catholic priest continued to sexually abuse dozens of children around the globe.

In 2006, McGuire was convicted in Walworth County Circuit Court of five counts sexual abuse of a child. He was sentenced to seven years in prison, but that sentence was stayed pending an appeal. McGuire eventually ended up in a federal prison when he was convicted of  traveling internationally to engage in sexual misconduct with a minor.
