One more thing I would like to add is that these communities should offer to their EMT's a Paramedic education with a contract. Meaning IF the Town/City/Village is going to fork out all that money for an education then you should have to stay with said community for a reasonable amount of time.. say 5 years after you have graduated. Payment of said education is done after graduation with a fair GPA. If you want a raise to go with your title then you MUST have a 3.5 GPA to earn that raise. I am not talking out of my butt here. I was offered & took the proposal in ILL years ago with the EMT program through Loyola Medical in Maywood. Not only did they pay for the education but I got the position I was looking for at the time. It seems like a win-win situation for each Town/City/Village in this area. It would also cut down on Paratech responses because we would have paramedic equiped rigs to do the proper transport.
