The entire nation has had to cut their budgets, do with less and share the load. I am a former state employee. While I was an employee from '96-'99, I earned a decent salary, I paid no insurance premiums, had a comprehensive medical, dental and vision plan, had a $200 family deductible, no co-pay for insurance and paid nothing into my retirement. The state paid both portions, the employee's and the employer's. The State of Wisconsin can longer offer these benefits without laying off employees. It is time to tighten all of the belts, including the state employees' too.
