I APPOLOGIZE AHAED OF TIME BY THE CAP LOCKS IS STUCK ON.

1.3 MILLIONS WAS FOR A NEW TRUCK. $800K IS WHAT A "DEMO" (READ USED FOR SHOW & SALES PITCHES) WOULD COST. AS FOR PUTTING MONIES ASIDE, THAT WAS BUDGETED AND FUNDED FOR MANY YEARS HOWEVER THE FUND WAS "ROBBED" TO BALANCE OTHER DEFICIENCIES. IT WAS NOT A LACK OF PLANNING ON THE DEPARTMENTS BEHALF BUT THE COUNCIL ONCE AGAIN TAKING MONEY TO BALANCE THE BUDGET.

AS FOR THE "NEED" FOR A REPLACEMENT TRUCK (NOTE I DID NOT SAY NEW BECAUSE THE DEPARTMENT HAS NOT ASKED FOR NEW BUT A SAFER, MORE EFFICIENT AND COST EFFECTIVE MEANS TO MEAT THE NEEDS OF THE COMMUNITY. IF I RECALL CORRECTLY (FROM PFC MEETINGS)THEY HAD TO SPEAD NEARLY $20,000 IN REPAIRS LAST YEAR ALONE. THE LADDER GOT STUCK IN THE EXTENDED POSITION REQUIRING IT TO BE REPAIRED BEFORE IT COULD BE DRIVEN BACK TO THE FIRE DEPARTMENT. FINALLY IT HAS BEEN STATED THE HYDRAULIC LINES AND PISTONS ARE FAILING. I AM NOT A FIREFIGHTER BUT I WOULD NOT FEEL TOO SAFE CLIMBING THAT LADDER NOT KNOWING IF THE LINES ARE GOING TO FAIL AND THE LADDER SLAMMING TO THE GROUND WITH ME ON IT!!

WOULDNT CLIMB THAT LADDER
