I'm skeptical
October 06, 2011 | 10:32 AM

I have served as a major with the Civil Air patrol for eleven years. Four of those years were on wing staff. So I know the politics of the wing well. I have served with Lt. Col. Curry on several practice missions. As an incident commander, he was arrogant, but he was very good. He could think outside the box, and could find a needle in a stack of needles. But, being human, he is a sinner like the rest of us. Nonetheless, certain things I am skeptical of.
To begin with, I am skeptical that the wing has told the authorities everything they know. I am skeptical concerning the statements of Lt. Col. King, as I have heard rumors for years of a relationship between King and Curry. I have also heard rumors of cadets moving in with Curry. But if that is the case, why did the parents not object? Whether these rumors are true or not I can't say. Mike Curry is also married to a CAP Lt. Col. and it is not King. Finally, I believe all to well that the reasons that these former cadets did not approach the wing is that they probably believed that they would not be believed or not got a fair shake from the wing. It could also be that they felt that their cadet status would be endangered because of the fraternization policies of CAP. In conclusion, I think that there is more to this than what has been brought to light. We may never know the full truth.
