Its a shame that some state office holders have not taken the time to understand what the Affordable Care Act, otherwise known as the health care bill, actually means for the citizens of WI. Mr. August continues to imply that one state can block federal legislation when it is not possible to do so.

The governor has blocked the usage of federal money that was earmarked for WI to set up a health care insurance exchange. This is nothing but an alternative means to buy health insurance and has nothing to do with health care. Any state that refuses to set up their own program is going to have to follow the provisions of the federal law in the next few years. One state cannot opt out.

Mr August also claims the Affordable Care act is unconstitutional. This probably because he feels the government cannot mandate coverage. Funny how they can mandate other stuff like paying taxes. What about the mandate for a photo id?
