A proposal to build a Dunkin’ Donuts shop and gas station/convenience store on Lake Geneva’s east side could be up in the air.
The Lake Geneva Plan Commission was scheduled Jan. 15 to consider the proposed commercial development at 190 E. Main St.
But shortly before the matter was to be discussed. Mayor Alan Kupsik announced that the applicant requested the issue be taken off the plan commission’s agenda.
The commission was scheduled to consider a conceptional review of a possible gas station with a convenience store and Dunkin’ Donuts with a detached car wash at 190 E. Main St. The agenda also included a request for a conditional-use permit for an in-vehicle sales or services commercial land use for that property.
Representatives of Dunkin’ Donuts or others associated with the development could not be reached for comment.
Kupsik said the city had received three letters from the public voicing concern about the potential project, although details of those concerns were not immediately clear.
Based in Massachusetts, Dunkin’ Donuts has about 8,500 outlets throughout the United States.
According to the company’s website, the nearest locations are in Delavan and in McHenry, Illinois.
