The Choral Arts Society of Southeastern Wisconsin (CAS) will premiere the video RETRO-Alpha, featuring music from Glenn Burleigh’s inspirational Alpha Mass recorded previously by CAS with St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church Choir of Racine, WI and the Jubilate Singers. Reminiscences from musicians who knew Burleigh and his compositions will add insight into the music and the man. This video will premiere on the CAS YouTube channel on Friday, June 18, 2021 at 7 PM. A video-conference “afterglow” will follow. The presentation will be offered free of charge, but donations would be appreciated.

Alpha Mass reflects composer Glenn Burleigh’s passion for bringing diverse people together. His music is a blend of classical, gospel, jazz and contemporary styles. The form and the text are based on the traditional Latin Mass, yet reflect the composer’s personal faith and experience. This video will include the Gloria (Glory), Sanctus (Holy) and Agnus Dei (Lamb of God) movements. A combo of accomplished jazz and gospel instrumentalists, vocal soloists, and the blended chorus bring Burleigh’s passion to life.
