On October 2, 2019, the State Agency Geospatial Information Committee hosted an event to give mapping professionals from SAGIC an opportunity to share their latest projects and the different collaboration that takes place between multiple state agencies. One of the presentations focused on "Opioid Crisis Health Consequences, Prevention and Treatment Resource Allocation," where Ruth Koepke of the Department of Health Services, shared their GIS work. Koepke highlighted that, "In Wisconsin, hepatitis C among people aged 15-29 increased more than 300 percent in the past decade." Although most cases are in urban areas, the rates of hepatitis C are highest in rural areas.
