A landlord-tenant squabble Jan. 25 that resulted in gunfire in Lake Geneva has landed the tenant in jail, police said.

Keven Aumuller, 49, is facing misdemeanor charges after he allegedly assaulted the owner of his apartment in the 700 block of North Street.

Police say the 77-year-old landlord fired a 9-mm handgun in self-defense, but nobody was injured in the shooting.

Police Lt. Ed Gritzner said the incident occurred shortly before midnight Jan. 25 when landlord Anthony Camodeca thought he smelled something burning in an apartment upstairs.

When Camodeca went upstairs to check, he and Aumuller got into an altercation and the landlord ended up falling down the stairs. After Aumuller allegedly continued to pursue Camodeca, the landlord grabbed his handgun and fired in self-defense.

Gritzner said Aumuller then ran back upstairs to his own apartment, and Camodeca called police.

Police said the landlord would not face any charges in the incident.

Aumuller was being held at the Walworth County Jail pending charges. Police are seeking charges of criminal trespassing, obstructing police and disorderly conduct.
