Badger’s boys and girls cross-country teams competed in separate meets, but both did equally well, finishing in the upper echelon of their respective competitions.

Big Foot’s football team played its final home game of the regular season Oct. 11 against perennial rival Brodhead/Juda. What looked like a close shootout at halftime turned into a runaway, as the visiting Cardinals beat the Chiefs 40-19.

After the Badger tennis team won its subsectional meet Oct. 7, all seven of Badger’s flights advanced to the Oct. 9 sectional round in Oconomowoc, which gave Badger a prime opportunity to win that competition as well to punch a ticket to the state meet.

After a tough loss the week before, Badger’s football team had a prime opportunity for a bounce-back game Oct. 11 when they hosted Delavan-Darien in Lake Geneva for a homecoming matchup.

Badger’s girls golf team fell just short of qualifying for the state meet Oct. 8 at the sectional meet in Hartland, placing third in an event that saw the top two teams advance to state.

WALWORTH — As a steady drizzle came down Oct. 10, the Big Foot/Williams Bay soccer team’s play was less gloomy than the weather. While the ChiefDogs were not able to beat Harvard, falling 2-1 to the Hornets, it was clear that the team has taken a few steps forward since the beginning of the season.

ELKHORN — When Elkhorn and Badger first met up on the soccer field Sept. 12 in Lake Geneva, the Elks were able to pressure the Badgers into mistakes, capitalizing on them with a 5-1 victory.

The regular season was winding down in the volleyball season last week, as all three local teams played some of the final games on the schedule before the playoffs start on Oct. 22.
